Who Killed Sara?: 10 Big Things That Could Happen In Season 3

Netflix's Who Killed Sara? recently released all eight of its season 2 episodes. The show answered a lot of lingering questions but came up with even more in the process. Netflix is known for producing short series, so if the show does get a third season, it may very well be its last.

So, where will the story go? Alex ends season 2 believing he knows who killed his sister, but the truth is more sinister than he can imagine. What mysteries will he uncover next? And what about the Lazcano family, which seems broken beyond repair at the end of the season? The possibilities are plentiful, and season 3 has everything it needs to be the best one yet.

10 Alex And Elisa Will Start A Family

Season 2 ended with Alex and Elisa together and in a seemingly stable relationship. Now that Alex thinks he knows who killed Sara, and with Marifer presumed dead, he might be finally ready to move on with his life. Does this mean he'll want to settle down with Elisa?

Season 3 might feature a time jump, perhaps a couple of months or even some years. In that time, Alex and Elisa might've gotten married and started a family. If there's no time jump, then perhaps he proposes, or the two move in together. Something big is bound to happen with their relationship before trouble finds them again.

9 Elisa Will Flirt With The Dark Side

Speaking of trouble, Elisa does seem to have somewhat of a dark side lurking inside her. In season 2's last episode, she burns down her father's casino and seems completely entranced and fascinated by the chaos she caused. Alex even has to scream and shake her to bring her out of her trance.

The Lazcano family is full of dubious people, and so far, Elisa is the most decent and honorable of the bunch. However, that might change in season 3. Could Elisa also hide some secrets of her own? Is she César's favorite because he knows she can be as destructive as he is? Will she be a hero who turns into a villain?

8 Mariana Will Have A Breakdown

Elisa's mother, Mariana, is the show's most unlikely villain. At first, she seems like a stereotypical rich and prejudiced woman, but her true nature soon comes to light. Mariana is a religious fanatic obsessed with keeping up appearances and protecting her family. Her dangerous side leads her to commit heinous crimes, like plotting Sara's murder and killing Elroy.

Mariana ends season 2 alone. Her husband is apparently dead, one of her children is in jail, and the other two dislike her, and she lost the two babies she wanted to raise. Being alone will probably get the best of her, and the show does hint she might be heading for a breakdown. The only question that remains is, how dangerous will Mariana become?

7 Dr. Alanis Will Have A Larger Role

Many fans were pleasantly surprised with the announcement that veteran actor Daniel Giménez Cacho would appear in season 2. Although he was only in a couple of scenes, the season finale revealed he played a pivotal role in Sara's demise.

The doctor will surely return in season 3 and will play a more prominent role. The show needs to explain his role in Sara's mysterious death and the nature of his arrangement with Nicandro and his family.

6 Marifer Will Return

Season 1 hints that Marifer, Sara's friend from infancy, is the mysterious Diana the Huntress, and season 2 confirms it. The young woman had her own plans to take the Lazcanos down and used Alex's hatred for them in her favor. Things then take a turn for her, and a series of shocking reveals lead her down a tragic path. She ends up accidentally shooting Clara, killing her and Chema's baby.

Marifer then has a breakdown and confronts Alex and Elisa inside the burning casino. She seemingly dies after a pile of debris falls on top of her, but the show doesn't outright confirm it. Marifer might come back in season 3, looking for revenge against Alex and Elisa. Her inside knowledge of their lives will make her a dangerous villain for the couple.

5 Rodolfo Will Die

Poor Rodolfo can't seem to catch a break. He really did love Sara, and her death affected him profoundly. After learning his wife cheated on him with his father, Rodolfo left her and spent most of season 2 dealing with his trauma.

After César's apparent death, Rodolfo begins to act and speak like him. He even adopts a Spaniard accent to his mother's delight. Rodolfo also begins to resent Alex for his family's misfortunes, blaming him for César's death and Elisa's kidnapping. Season 3 might see him adopt a villainous role that would lead to his death. Perhaps he dies as a result of his actions or sacrifices to atone for his mistakes. Whatever the reason, things don't look good for the oldest of the Lazcano siblings.

4 Chema Will Die

Similarly, Chema's fate looks bleak. By the end of season 2, he's in prison after confessing to Moncho's murder and taking the blame for the corpse in Alex's garden. The deaths of Lorenzo and his unborn baby left Chema numb, and his life in prison will probably be as awful as Alex's was, if not more.

Chema is also trying to make up for his past mistakes. He never wanted Alex to go to jail but also never did anything to help him. His remorse for his inaction, coupled with his lingering feeling for Alex, will probably end with Chema making the ultimate sacrifice and giving his life for Alex.

3 César Will Return To Mexico

César, arguably the show's main antagonist, faked his death and escaped to a tropical island, where he spends his days gambling and womanizing. It's an unfairly happy ending to such a despicable character, and fans know his tranquility won't last.

Such a character can't stay away for long, and his many skeletons will probably come to haunt him sooner or later. César will get dragged back to Sara's mystery, one way or the other. Perhaps he has dealings with Nicandro's family? Or even better, maybe César helped Sara in more ways than one. After all, he already saved her life once and could've done it again.

2 Nicandro Will Reveal His Plans

Nicandro remains one of the show's most confusing characters. He hardly featured in season 1 before assuming a pivotal role in season 2. The season finale reveals he manipulated everyone into believing Marifer killed Sara, including Marifer herself. As it turns out, Nicandro and Dr. Alanis killed Sara as part of a larger project.

What this mysterious project is and what exactly did Nicandro and Alanis did remains unknown. Season 3 will go deeper into Nicandro's backstory and his arrangement with Sara. His family is also seemingly involved in her murder, so fans might also get to meet his father or mother.

1 Sara Will Be Alive

The biggest reveal of all might be that Sara's not even dead. Maybe she faked her death to escape the actual threats that surrounded her life. Multiple characters wanted her dead, including Mariana, Nicandro, Sergio, and arguably Chema and Marifer. At least three of these people made attempts on her life, making her aware of the danger.

Sara might've asked for César's help in faking her death, or perhaps she arranged everything with the help of Dr. Alanis. Another option is that a third, still unknown character aided her, and she's currently with them. Whatever the method she used, it's becoming more likely that Sara is the one that played everyone all along.
