Season 17 of Grey's Anatomy has been a wild and intense ride. The doctors have been dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and the season finale was just as unpredictable. Meredith and the other characters began seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, as the episode featured a few different timeframes. The doctors got vaccinated, Maggie and Winston got married, and Jo adopted Luna.

Now that the heartbreaking season has come to an end, what TV shows should fans check out next? There are many hospital dramas that would be perfect to binge watch, some lighter in tone than others, along with a popular sitcom that will soothe fans who have been worried about Meredith Grey for the entire season.

10 The Resident (Hulu)

The Resident follows Dr. Conrad Hawkins and his love interest, nurse Nic Nevin, as they deal with the daily traumas of working in a hospital.

Fans of Grey's Anatomy will love The Resident since both shows focus equally on what the patients are going through and the personal lives of the doctors. It's always juicy and entertaining to watch doctors focusing on saving lives while dealing with dramatic relationships.

9 The Good Doctor (Hulu)

The Good Doctor is a remake of a Korean TV show and mainly follows the life of Dr. Shaun Murphy and the medical cases he works on. The show also introduces fans to an array of other characters, who are trying to work through their residency while trying to combat their own personal drama.

This is another TV show to watch after finishing season 17 of Grey's Anatomy. It's widely considered to be a very heartwarming show. However, like Grey's, it has sad and serious moments that can also make viewers feel very moved.

8 House (Amazon Prime Video, iTunes)

House's character was inspired by Sherlock Holmes and this popular show is another good one to binge watch.

House is an episodic drama and each episode focuses on a different medical case. House is cranky and a total genius, and each episode follows the same formula: a patient is stumping everyone and he is able to figure it out. Although House isn't a very nice person, he's so good at his job that everyone is fascinated by how he cracks each case.

There are several other main characters as well and it's interesting to watch House interact with them, from his boss Dr. Lisa Cuddy, who he doesn't like, to his friend, Dr. James Wilson, who is the only person he has able to make a real social connection with. From seasons 1 to 3, House has a team of three doctors who work with him, and after that, many doctors are in competition hoping to be hired.

7 The Night Shift (Netflix)

With four seasons so far, The Night Shift tells the story of doctors who work the overnight shift at a hospital and many of them used to be in the military.

The main character, Dr. Thomas Charles "TC" Callahan has a tragic story, as his brother died in Afghanistan and he used to be a medic for the army. There's plenty of intense drama here, so Grey's Anatomy fans will want to keep watching.

6 Nurse Jackie (DirecTV, iTunes)

Airing for 7 seasons, Nurse Jackie is a dark comedy that has fast-paced storylines and is also heartbreaking at times.

Similar to Meredith Grey, Jackie is an incredible nurse in New York City, who is tough and strong and able to do anything. The show is also a family drama in some ways, as Jackie's daughter Grace has trouble at school, and Jackie is also cheating on her husband with a pharmacist named Eddie.

5 Lenox Hill (Netflix)

Netflix has several docu-series to check out and Lenox Hill has been praised for letting viewers in on what it's like to work at a hospital. Over 9 episodes, the show covers the COVID-19 pandemic, along with how an obstetrician, emergency doctor, and two neurosurgeons do their work every day.

Many medical cases on Grey's Anatomy are devastating to watch, and nothing was more tragic than seeing how the doctors handled the pandemic. Season 17's episodes feel very realistic, and watching Lenox Hill drives home how true to life they were.

4 Everwood (HBO Max)

With four seasons to binge watch, Everwood is another great choice, as it tells the story of a talented doctor who moves his family to a small town after a family tragedy.

When Andy Brown opens up his practice, the other town doctor, Harold Abbott, isn't thrilled, and the two don't see eye to eye on how to help Everwood's residents. This show is a heartwarming look at the life of a doctor, but it also has many storylines featuring the teenage characters, as they experience love and the highs and lows of growing up.

3 ER (Hulu)

Now's a great time to binge-watch ER, the '90s hospital drama that has made such an impact on the genre. Before Grey's Anatomy, it was one of the TV dramas that had been on the air the longest, since it had 15 seasons.

Many consider ER to be the best medical show out there and that's definitely a good reason to add it to a binge-watching list. Like Grey's AnatomyER had some pretty wild and amazing scenes and storylines, from attacks to prisoners being in the hospital. The romance between two doctors, Doug Ross and Carol Hathaway, is also epic, just like Meredith and Derek's.

2 Scrubs (Hulu, Amazon Prime Video)

For those wanting a more light-hearted hospital show, Scrubs has 9 funny seasons and follows young doctors who are trying to grow up while helping patients and saving lives.

There is a lot to love here, from Turk and JD's friendship to their romantic relationships, and the older and more experienced doctors are both hilarious and mean. But even doctors Cox and Kelso have their sweet and charming moments, which makes them feel human.

1 Private Practice (Hulu, Netflix)

After watching the season 17 finale of Grey's Anatomy, what about checking out the show's spin-off? Grey's Anatomy fans know Addison as the brilliant doctor, who was married to Derek, and this spin-off follows her as she moves to California and joins other doctors at a private practice that treats patients for a variety of conditions.

The show also sees Derek's sister and brain surgeon Amelia explored in more depth, who continues her story on Grey's after tragically losing her fiance and her baby. Private Practice is a great blend of patient drama and juicy stories involving the relationships that the characters have with each other.
