We Are Lady Parts: The 10 Best Characters, Ranked | ScreenRant

We Are Lady Parts has been years in the making. The series centers on an all-female Muslim punk band that is determined to get the London scene to take them seriously despite their gender and religion. It first aired as a pilot in 2018 for the UK's Channel 4 but only recently became a full-fledged television series with the help of Peacock.

We Are Lady Parts is a phenomenal show that's equal parts hilarious and inspiring. Part of its appeal is the talented and diverse cast of characters that viewers can't help but root for. Even the antagonistic characters are entertaining to watch and have won fans' hearts.

10 Zarina

Zarina joins the cast of We Are Lady Parts later into the first season once the band begins to have a presence online thanks to Momtaz. As an influencer and culture editor for a magazine, Zarina reaches out to Momtaz to interview the band for an upcoming issue.

While it may seem like Zarina has good intentions, she shows her true colors when she leads the interviews away from music and more towards the band members' view on religious and political matters. Thanks to Zarina, Lady Parts gets some bad press, and the band even breaks up.

9 Noor

Noor is the kind of character who thinks she's the best, but really she's a major antagonist in Amina's life. While Noor starts out as Amina's best friend she ends up being her enemy for much of the show. This stems from Noor being concerned with Amina finding a potential husband purely for selfish reasons on her part.

In fact, Noor is basically trying to make Amina into a copycat version of herself throughout the season instead of letting Amina be her own person. Many fans wrote off her character, perceiving her attitudes and intentions as problematic.

8 Abdullah

Abdullah is one of those gray-area characters that is neither well-loved nor ferociously despised. He is introduced as Saira's boyfriend, though it's instantly clear that he is more into her than she is into him.

He is definitely a more passive character, choosing to stay out of conflict with Saira until he learns that she has a sister that's he never even heard of. Though fans were glad to see him eventually stand up for himself, many wished he would have told Saira about his hurt feelings instead of ghosting her.

7 Ahsan

Ahsan pulls double duty in We Are Lady Parts as he is not only Amina's love interest for the first season but he's also Ayesha's brother. In true love-interest fashion, Ahsan makes both good and bad decisions that leave fans rooting for him but also wanting to talk sense into him.

However, fans like Ahsan mostly because he's extremely supportive of his sister and of the band. He also clearly communicates his desire not to be in a relationship with Amina, which is mature of him.

6 Ayesha

Ayesha is the drummer of Lady PartsAs talented as she is as a musician, she's equally outspoken and stubborn, which occasionally gets her into trouble. She also enters into a relationship with Zarina before she realizes that Zarina is bad news.

Ayesha isn't a bad character, but some fans had a hard time rallying behind her given how mean she was with Amina when she was trying out for the band. On the other hand, Ayesha made fans proud with her outstanding songwriting skills.

5 Momtaz

Momtaz is Lady Parts's band manager, and she definitely takes her job seriously. Despite pushback from Saira, Momtaz is the one who starts building Lady Part's internet presence, which helps them attract more fans. She also single-handedly organizes the concert in the season finale episode.

Momtaz has a lot going for her, but she does lose points with some fans because of her hesitancy to let Amina in the band and for not being truthful with Saira in the beginning.

4 Saira

Saira is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist in Lady Parts. She sees herself as the leader of the band and is the one who recruits Amina as their new lead guitarist. Saira is extremely grateful for the band because it became her de facto family after her actual family members turned their back on her.

Saira is talented and passionate, but she's also stubborn and at times, incredibly sad despite being in a happy show. As a result, she sometimes has a hard time opening up to people, and that gets her into trouble.

3 Amina

Amina is arguably the main character of We Are Lady Parts. Though she's the lead, Amina seems to have little idea about who she is or what she wants out of life, so she relies on those around her to help her.

However, Amina learns over the course of season 1 that the only way for her to be happy is to chase after what she truly wants. She blossoms into a fantastic guitar player and even gets over her stage fright. She's a character fans can't help but root for.

2 Bisma

Bisma rounds out Lady Parts as the band's bass player and backup vocalist. She seems to have it all, juggling her role in the band with her duties as a wife and mother on top of her growing career as a graphic artist. She's also a terrific feminist character who isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in.

Bisma is fan-favorite character because she knows how to be honest without hurting her bandmates' feelings. She's also loyal and gives inspiring pep talks to anyone who needs one.

1 Seema

Seema is Amina's wholly supportive and loving mother. Despite not being a major part of the ensemble, she managed to win over many fans' hearts, becoming one of the best-loved characters in We Are Lady Parts.

All too often, fictional mothers to characters of color are strict, traditional, and want their children to follow in their footsteps. However, Seema is nothing like that. Instead, she puts her daughter's happiness before everything else. It's clear she's invested in Amina's well-being and wants whatever Amina wants. She is definitely one of the best mom characters on TV.
