Lego Masters: The 10 Most Creative Builds Of Season 1
The competition show Lego Masters debuted on Fox in 2020. What could have been a cheesy reality competition show whose only purpose was to sell toys ended up as an entertaining and touching series, bringing out the child in everyone. It also introduced the world to a group of contestants who created some amazing LEGO creations.
Through the first season, teams of friends, married couples, and relatives worked together to build a LEGO creation based on a theme they were told before they had to start. With little time to develop an idea to design and build, the teams pumped out creative and complex creations. One led a husband and wife team to win the $100,000 grand prize and the title of LEGO Master.
10 Spaceland By Christian & Aaron

In the first week, Christian and Aaron proved they were a force to be reckoned with, winning the first gold brick. The task was to build a “Dream Park Theme Park;” they built Spaceland, which was a retro themed park based on space travel. This featured a motorized Ferris wheel that moved around, spinning UFO swings, and more. They even included a LEGO Will Arnett figure, paying homage to the show’s host.
9 The Sacrifice By Tyler & Amy

The second episode had a major twist for the builders. They had to create a design that Will Arnett destroyed at the episode’s end. This design needed to have two elements. First, it had to be an impressive design by itself. Second, when it hit the ground and exploded, it had to create an amazing visual appearance on video of the explosion. Newlyweds Tyler and Amy created a space alien with moveable tentacles. There was also a hero dropping a bomb on it, telling the perfect story before it perfectly exploded.
8 Mermaid By Sam & Jessica

Sam and Jessica struggled early in LEGO Masters. The two friends had trouble getting along, their design ideas differing. However, everything came together for the pair in the third episode. The team made the final three, and it started here. This was the “Cut in Half” challenge. The competitors received one half of a LEGO build, and they built the other side. The first half was a fire hydrant, and they created the water flowing out into the form of a mermaid, complete with seahorses and sea turtles.
7 Clockwork Man By Richard & Flynn

Richard and Flynn were another married couple competing on the show. These two men carried a sympathetic storyline through the first Lego Masters season, as Flynn was emotional and very hard on himself, showing his passion for succeeding as a master builder. In the third episode, they impressed everyone with their Clockwork Man LEGO design.
This was the “Cut in Half” challenge. They took half a clock and created a giant face with a village built beneath it on the other side. The duo created a motor, and the eyes moved in sync with the clock’s hands.
6 Attack On Sustainable City By Christian & Aaron

In Episode 5, Aaron and Christian put 14 hours of work into a LEGO creation known as Attack on Sustainable City. This ended as one of the most intense episodes of the series. The two friends wheeled the finished product into the display room, hit a brick on the floor, and the tower crashed down. Every team got four more hours to add an element, saving the duo.
The theme was “Mega Block City,” the addition asking to make it “under attack.” This included a 14-floor tower, each with something unique in its design, all capped off with a Smog Monster created in the second wave of design.
5 Pop’s Food Carts By Mark & Boone

Mark and Boone made it to the finals and in “Mega City Block,” they started on an impressive run, proving to be one of the best duos of the season. The two created a food cart tower. The two had a tough start because they couldn’t agree on the design. However, once they let Mark deal with building it and Boone took care of the story, they created magic. They connected their food cart to the ones from Portland, where they live. The food cart spawned hot dog monsters and people still trying to get their food.
4 Beam Bridge By Mark & Boone

The sixth week design was something different, and no one saw what was coming. In Need for Speed/Super-Bridges, the teams had to build a bridge that could hold a tremendous amount of weight placed on it. Two of the teams built bridges that held over 1,000 pounds, and the contestants couldn’t add any more weight because of safety precautions.
Amy and Tyler built a Classic Brick Bridge, but they lost to Mark and Boone, who created the Beam Bridge. Mark and Boone ended up winning based on the design of the LEGO bridge, thanks to its futuristic design and colors.
3 Storybook By Amy & Tyler

In Episode 7, the builders had a tough task ahead of them. A group of kids told a story to each contestant. The builders had to create a design based on these kids’ stories. Amy and Tyler had to create a story that included a giant carrot and broccoli. Their design had a vegetable monster bust out of the ground while broccoli fell from the sky. Amy and Tyler won tickets to the New York Legoland opening.
2 Evil Pizza Lair By Mark & Boone

In Week 8, the LEGO Masters contestants created a design based on “Good vs. Evil.” There were four teams left in this week’s episode and they chose from LEGO's Series 19 Collectable Minifigures to create either a superhero hideout or a villain’s lair. Mark and Boone protected themselves with their gold brick, even though they didn’t need to. Their Evil Pizza Lair was one of the best designs of the week and one of the most creative of the season. There is a pizza conveyor belt, working flashing lights, and people getting cheesed, a design telling in a great story.
1 Artopia By Mark & Boone

The finale saw the final three go head to head. The teams created any sculpture they wanted and had 24 hours to do so. Tyler and Amy won with their Treasure of the Griffin build. However, the most creative build of the season finale was Mark and Boone’s Artopia, which includes several scenes with Minifigures creating things on their own. A paintbrush helped the walls turn, and the humor created in the story made this one of the season’s best builds.
