The Hills: Whitney Port Shares One Regret From The Show

Whitney Port, a former cast member from the hit show The Hills, is sharing the one and only regret she has from being on the show. While she is still happy she did the show, there is only one thing she would change if she could go back in time. It is the one thing that bothers Port when she watches reruns today.

Port was a fan favorite while the show was on the air. Viewers loved how down-to-earth and relatable she was as Lauren Conrad’s co-worker. She earned a reputation for her overly dramatic facial expressions and the iconic shrug she would give instead of verbal responses. While Port played a big role on The Hills, she wasn’t quite as popular as Conrad or Heidi Pratt, who got more airtime. Still, she managed to work her way into the hearts of viewers and became a loved cast member.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Port shared the one regret she has during her time on the show. She says, “Sometimes I watch myself on The Hills and I’m like, ‘Whitney, could you, like, maybe pretend to be more interested, or say something of some substance instead of just giving looks?’”  She went on to tell Us Weekly that it is possible she did speak up more on the show but that it was edited out. Port mentioned that The Hills was known for editing scenes in a way that focused on facial expressions and looks, so the viewers could “make their own assumption of what happened.”

While Port is back on season 2 of the show's spinoff The Hills: New Beginnings, she will have a limited role as a supportive friend to cast members Pratt and Audrina Patridge. She explained her reasoning for not taking on a bigger part in the show to Us Weekly. She said she did not want her husband and young son to be involved, and that’s something the show would have wanted to dive into. Instead, she will just be there for her friends in whatever way she can while keeping her family life private.

It is interesting that Port will, once again, take on the role of a friend to other cast members, which was what she did on the original The Hills. Port may not get much screen time this season, but she will forever be remembered for her expressive and over-the-top facial expressions, making it pretty ironic they're one of her regrets. Perhaps in the future, Port will feel more comfortable sharing her life at home with viewers, but until then, fans will have to be satisfied with her anecdotes from the original series.
