Glenn Close Cast In Peter Dinklage & Josh Brolin-Led Comedy Brothers

Glenn Close joins Peter Dinklage and Josh Brolin in the comedy movie Brothers. Close scored her 8th career Oscar nomination for last year's Hillbilly Elegy, but unfortunately missed out on winning the gold once again. However, Close did provide this year's critically panned Academy Awards telecast with its most memorable moment when she performed Da Butt dance from Spike Lee's School Daze as part of a comedy routine (that Close insists wasn't planned in advance).

Indeed Close is known more for her serious dramatic performances than either her dancing or comedy skills. Nevertheless, comedy is what she'll do in her next upcoming project. As reported by Coming Soon, Close has joined the cast of the movie Brothers, a comedy from Palm Springs director Max Barbakow. Few details have been revealed about the project, but it's said to be similar to the Danny DeVito-Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Twins. Dinklage and Brolin play the leads, and have been attached the project since 2019.

Brothers represents something of a reunion for Close and Brolin, who both appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy. As previously stated, Close is not normally associated with comedy, given her resume filled with heavy dramatic roles in Oscar-worthy films. However, she has had occasion to go lighter at times throughout her career and has shown her comedic chops. Indeed, her first ever Oscar nomination was for the comedy-drama The World According to Garp. Close later hammed it up memorably in Tim Burton's sci-fi comedy Mars Attacks! and in Robert Altman's ensemble black comedy Cookie's Fortune. It remains to be seen if her dancing skills will also be put to use alongside Dinklage and Brolin in her new project. Brothers does not yet have a release date.
