Green Arrow's 9 Best Quotes In The Arrowverse | ScreenRant
Stephen Amell's Arrow was very different from his comic book persona. In the comics, Oliver Queen is much more talkative and cheerful, whereas, on the show, he can come across as a man of few words and likes to keep things close to his chest.
Despite his tendency to isolate himself and keep secrets even from the people closest to him, Oliver had plenty of memorable quotes on the show. They helped the audience to get a more detailed glimpse into his head and heart, and also understand better the relationship between Oliver and his friends.
9 "Being Happy Doesn't Mean You Don't Have Issues."

From a spoiled rich man to a father, friend, and hero, Oliver changed a lot from Arrow's first season. Oliver gradually realized that no life was perfect and it couldn't be, that real happiness lay in not giving up and facing one's problems. As Oliver put it: "Being happy doesn't mean you don't have issues. It just means that you're working on them."
Oliver lived by this rule as he confronted most of his problems head-on - even if it got him into further trouble sometimes (such as when he made the decision to sacrifice his life even though he knew the impact it would have on his family).
8 "The Essence Of Heroism Is To Die So Others Can Live."

Some fans took it hard when Oliver sacrificed his life in the Crisis in the last season. However, if one considers Oliver's following quote: "Someone once told me that the essence of heroism is to die so others can live," Oliver's actions suddenly make much more sense.
Oliver was willing to give up his life to save just two people, Barry and Kara, so dying to save millions of lives must have felt like a natural step to him. Not every person would be willing to sacrifice their lives for the good of others so it's possible to argue that in the world of superheroes, this is what separates true heroes from the remaining people.
7 "You Have No Idea How Powerful The Truth Can Be."

If there's one thing Oliver struggled with after his return to Star City, it was telling the truth. As Oliver matured throughout the show, he realized that: "You have no idea how powerful the truth can be."
He grew much more honest, even if it sometimes hurt him, such as when he confessed to being the Green Arrow and went to prison. He also risked Thea's love when he showed her his secret hideout. Luckily for Oliver, Thea accepted the discovery calmly and was grateful to Oliver for sharing the truth with her. This was another example of Oliver maturing as a person. From a spoiled rich boy of the first episode, he went on to become a responsible man who was no longer lying to himself or the people around him.
6 "If You Rely On Your Suit More Than On Yourself... It's Going To Get You Killed."

To be a superhero means to lead a challenging and dangerous existence. Oliver knew this very well so even after he came back to Star City, he continued training and honing his skills. Most importantly, Oliver realized that: "If you rely on your suit more than you rely on yourself... it's going to get you killed."
No suit can fix everything, not if the heroes don't trust in themselves. Oliver was at his weakest when he was doubting himself, and he wasn't the only one with this problem. Funnily enough, this quote has its reflection in the MCU when Tony Stark says to Peter Parker: "If you're nothing without the suit, then you shouldn't have it." Oliver would no doubt agree with this sentiment.
5 "When You Are In Charge, Everything That Your Team Does Is On You."

Oliver started his superhero journey as a lone wolf and he didn't always work well with others. However, once he decided to form his own superhero team, he quickly came to the conclusion that: "When you are in charge, everything that your team does is on you."
This wasn't always the case, though, since the members of Oliver's team had their own heads and sometimes did what they wanted, no matter the consequences. Oliver then blamed himself as well as them and it soured the relationship between them. Luckily, he eventually acknowledged that he needed to trust those he worked with.
4 "I'm Your Father, Alright? It Is My Primary Job In The World To Protect You."

Although it took him a while to adjust, Oliver was one of the best parents in the Arrowverse. He quickly got the most basic rule of all: "I'm your father, alright? It is my primary job in the world to protect you. [...] I made a promise to your mother to keep you safe and there is no world, there is no universe, there is no past, present, or future where I break it."
While he worked on becoming a better father to his children, Oliver still had to overcome some of his past behavioral issues. For example, he always had a tendency to keep things from the people closest to him. Oliver didn't initially share the information he was going to die in the Crisis. However, as he grew as a person, he realized hiding the truth from his children wasn't the right choice.
3 "You Will Always Be The Love Of My Life."

Whether the fans shipped Oliver with Felicity or preferred seeing Oliver dating other people in the Arrowverse, there's no denying that Oliver gave some pretty romantic speeches to Felicity, such as: "No matter who you are or what you become and no matter who I am or what I become, you will always be, you will always be the love of my life. People change. That never will."
Their relationship was full of difficulties, they broke up several times only to later get back together, but there was never any doubt that they loved each other.
2 "Suit Up!"

One of the shortest but still memorable Oliver's quotes on the show is "Suit up!" He used it to call his team to action multiple times and let them know it was time to put on the characters' superhero outfits and prepare for fighting.
The quote also stood behind some funny scenes, such as when Curtis came back and upon hearing it, he remarked that he had missed it.
1 "You Have Failed This City!"

Oliver's most famous quote: "You have failed this city!" cannot be forgotten. Green Arrow used it to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies, especially during the first season. One of the most memorable moments happened when he confronted his mother, used the line... and got shot by her.
Another memorable moment was when he visited Malcolm Merlyn in his office, once again accused him of failing the city, and then discovered that the businessman Merlyn was actually the deadly Dark Archer and that he could fight very well. In other words, this quote usually preceded some of Arrow's best fighting scenes and confrontations that left the fans hungry for more.
